The General Prosecutor of Romania, Alex Florența, announced on Thursday that the authorities are investigating how the weapons and the sums of money found in the house of Horaţiu Potra entered Romania.
Prosecutor General Alex Florența spoke, Thursday evening, on Radio Europa Liberă, about the case of the mercenary Horaţiu Potra, writes News.ro.
“There are elements that are currently the subject of a separate investigation to analyze, in the light of the data we already have, the way in which this weaponry and not only that, but also the sums of money found with it, at that time entered Romania to be used. This file is not at the General Prosecutor's Office at the moment, precisely in order to be able to analyze the whole situation in which this weaponry, I repeat, and the sums of money entered Romania to be used later by group of mercenaries”, declared Florence.
He states that it is “obvious” that the weapons entered Romania with the help of officials.
“It is obvious that this weaponry, when it was introduced into the country, was introduced with the probable support of some officials from the airport that was used by the group (…) It is more than certain that they had a support area in this area of the airport. These are the elements that we are currently analyzing in a separate investigation. We are investigating these aspects, including the number of flights made from the Congo, towards Romania, at the Airport Sibiu, the people who were involved in the running of these flights, in order to have the complete panel on the possible officials”, explained the prosecutor Alex Florența.
