On October 16, 2025, a number of Russian banks, including VTB, Yandex Bank and MKB, announced an increase in rates on ruble deposits, according to a marketing agency Marcs.

The VTB press service reported that from this date the maximum rate on long-term deposits (from six months to 1.5 years) will be up to 15% per annum, on short-term deposits (3 months) up to 16% per annum.

According to bank representatives, such changes are due to the desire to maintain attractive conditions for clients who opened deposits at high rates at the beginning of the year. Despite the reduction in the key rate, banks continue to offer favorable conditions for deposits. “Clients maintain the trend towards saving, which is confirmed by portfolio growth in both September and October. It is expected that this trend will continue until the end of the year,” noted Alexey OkhorzinSenior Vice President of VTB.

According to the bank's estimates, after a slight slowdown in August, growth in the savings market accelerated in September. The main contribution to growth was made by ruble time deposits. It is predicted that by the end of the year, the savings market in Russia will grow by 15%, reaching 66.2 trillion rubles, and the portfolio of ruble liabilities will increase by 17%, amounting to 62.8 trillion rubles. Next year, double-digit growth in Russian savings is expected to continue.
