A Russian tourist died of malaria after a trip to Africa. While on vacation, he was bitten by a malaria mosquito and introduced a fatal infection into his body.
35-year-old Vladislav L. from Ulyanovsk managed the local car company Motom. In February, he went on vacation to the Zanzibar archipelago with his pregnant wife. After returning, the man felt severely unwell and dizzy, and his temperature rose to 39. Doctors diagnosed the flu and put him on an IV with vitamins. But this did not help, Vladislav began to have complications. During hospitalization, malaria was detected, doctors fought for his life, but they could not save the man; he died in the hospital.
According to relatives, the couple did not know about the possible infection, and before departure they did not undergo the recommended chemoprophylaxis against malaria.
