The concept of creating a National Satellite Manufacturing Center in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was discussed at the Council for Science and Higher Education, chaired by Governor Mikhail Kotyukov. This was reported in the press service of the regional government.
It is planned that the center will combine the accumulated experience and resources of the main system-forming participant in the project – JSC Reshetnev with the strong scientific and educational base of Reshetnev University, Siberian Federal University and laboratories of the KSC SB RAS. It will be focused on solving a full cycle of problems – from the development of the latest spacecraft to the introduction of advanced technologies within the framework of the national Space project.
“Ensuring the country’s technological leadership is one of the main tasks set by the president. All regions are involved in its solution. The Krasnoyarsk Territory, taking into account its industrial, scientific and educational base, can significantly increase its activity in addressing issues of national importance. The creation of a satellite manufacturing center will strengthen the region’s position as one of the leaders in the space industry and will become an incentive for the country’s technological development,” said Mikhail Kotyukov.
Following the discussion, the head of the region instructed to finalize the concept as soon as possible and submit it for consideration to the Russian government.
The initiative to create a National Satellite Manufacturing Center in the region was supported by First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov. Mikhail Kotyukov presented this proposal to the Deputy Prime Minister in early autumn of this year.
During a visit to Krasnoyarsk, Denis Manturov, together with the governor and general director of the Roscosmos state corporation Dmitry Bakanov, visited large industrial enterprises in the region and assessed their production capabilities. The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia began his working trip from Zheleznogorsk.
The guests visited JSC Reshetnev, saw communication and navigation satellites at different stages of production, as well as the company’s promising developments – a digital payload, a modular unified micro-class platform, new design solutions for creating GLONASS spacecraft, compact satellite communication terminals for transport.
