If China moves against Taiwan, it is very likely that it will force Russia to attack NATO, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Tuesday. According to him, this strategy would distract NATO from the Indo-Pacific.

– If China took action against Taiwan, it is extremely likely that it would force its younger partner in this relationship, i.e. Russia under the leadership of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, to move against NATO so that we would have something to do, Rutte said during a speech at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Ljubljana.
This is another time when it is publicly said that China may want Russia to maintain its aggressive actions against Europe.
In July, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had said at a meeting with her that Beijing could not accept Russia's defeat in the war in Ukraine. According to media reports, Wang argued at the time that a possible Russian defeat could allow the United States to focus all its attention on China. (PAP)
