Direct payments financial support for farmers, granted under the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. The purpose of support is, among others, ensuring food security and stabilizing farmers' income.
In Poland, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARiMR) is responsible for the implementation of direct payments.
Direct subsidies are granted to farmers who run agricultural activities and the total area of their land is at least 1 ha.
There are different types of payments, including:
— Basic area payment
— Payment for young farmers
— Payments linked to production (e.g. cattle, legumes)
— Ecological payments
— Agri-environment-climate payments
Direct payments in 2025. Amounts
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Stefan Krajewski, signed regulations specifying the rates of direct payments for 2025. For some payments under area eco-schemes, higher rates were set than in the previous announcement. The rates were increased based on updated data provided by ARiMR.
In case payments for small farms a fixed support amount of EUR 225/ha was determined. After conversion, this amount is: PLN 960.70/ha.
The exchange rate of the European Central Bank on September 30, 2025 was used for the conversion, which is PLN 4.2698/euro.
The updated basic payment rates for 2025 are:
- Basic income support – PLN 488.55/ha,
- Redistributive payment – PLN 176.84/ha,
- Payment for young farmers — PLN 248.16/ha,
- Cattle payment – PLN 322.49/pcs.,
- Payment to cows – PLN 412.63/pcs.,
- Payment to sheep – PLN 110.16/pcs.,
- Payment to goats – PLN 48.12/pcs.
- Payment for legumes for seeds — PLN 879.96/ha,
- Payment for fodder crops — PLN 430.18/ha,
- Payment to hops — PLN 1,864.49/ha,
- Payment for starch potatoes — PLN 1,580.89/ha,
- Payment to sugar beet — PLN 1,284.14/ha,
- Payment to tomatoes – PLN 2,097.56/ha,
- Payment to strawberries – PLN 1,495.79/ha,
- Payment to flax – PLN 542.69/ha,
- Payment to hemp – PLN 168.99/ha.
- Supplementary Basic Payment (PWK) — PLN 55.95/ha.
According to the ministry, as in previous years, payment rates under the Animal Welfare ecosystem will be determined at a later date.
