They got 5,000 for nothing. PLN per month for three years. Here's what happened

122 people for three years, from June 2021 to May 2024, received an unconditional amount of EUR 1200 per month, i.e. the equivalent of approx. 5,000 zloty.
The study described by CNN focused on people aged 21 to 40, who lived alone and earned from 1100 euros to 2600 euros per month. They could freely spend extra money from the study for whatever.
Unconditional basic income, also known as guaranteed income, is the idea of providing money to everyone, regardless of how much they already earn – to give them the freedom to change work, train for new positions or, for example, engaging in creative activities.
Basic income. Elon Musk: It will be necessary at AI
This solution was supported a few years ago by Elon Musk, who in 2018 said that “universal income would be necessary over time if artificial intelligence takes over most human positions.”
The study was conducted by Mein Grundeinkommen, a Berlin Non-Profit organization. For three years, participants completed a survey every six months in which they were asked about various areas of life, including the financial situation, work organization, mental well -being and social commitment.
Scientists: There is no evidence that people like to do nothing
Critics solution argue that receiving basic income may make people less inclined to work. However, the results of the German study suggest that this is not the case. It was discovered that receiving basic income was not the reason why people gave up work. The participants of the study worked on average 40 hours a week and remained employed – just like the control group, which did not receive any remuneration.
“We didn't find any evidence that people like to do nothing,” said Susann Fiedler, a professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, who took part in the study.
Basic income does not reduce economic activity
Unlike the control group, people who receive basic income changed jobs more often or enrolled in further education. They reported greater satisfaction with their professional life – and were “much” more satisfied with their income.

As Matthew Johnson, a professor of public policy at Northumbria University in Great Britain, who works on basic income and is the author of the book on this subject: “This study confirms the growing evidence that we and others have been presented for a long time: there is no evidence that basic income reduces economic activity and on the labor market.”
