The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug can become a pilot site for the introduction of a system for monitoring the average speed of automobile traffic. Governor Dmitry Artyukhov came up with this initiative.

As Yamal 1 reports, the head of the region noted that average speed control is an effective tool for reducing accidents. “When we begin to analyze the causes of serious fatal accidents, it turns out that in most cases it is a human factor, a violation of the speed limit,” Artyukhov explained.

The initiative was supported by the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Urals Federal District Artem Zhoga. He instructed to work on the proposal and come up with an initiative to make the entire federal district a pilot zone for the implementation of this project.
