In October, I added a pinch of this simple mixture to the strawberries, and in the spring I couldn’t believe my eyes – the berries bloomed like in a picture.

In autumn, the beds are already resting: the leaves are pressed to the ground, the nights have become cold, the soil is heavy and wet. At this time, strawberries are usually simply trimmed and mulched, but there is a trick that helps them meet the spring strong and blooming. It is enough to sprinkle a pinch of wood ash under each bush.

The procedure is the simplest: lightly loosen the soil under the plants, sprinkle ash directly under the base and mix a little with the soil. After this, the bed can be watered with warm water (the nutrients will be absorbed faster).

In winter, the bushes hibernate quietly under the snow, and in the spring they come to life without frozen leaves. Strawberries come out green, strong and bloom noticeably earlier than usual. Even old bushes that previously barely survived until summer produce new leaves and flower stalks.

Ash reduces soil acidity, strengthens roots and saturates the soil with potassium, calcium and phosphorus, elements on which the winter hardiness of plants directly depends.
