Nicușor Dan's reaction to the threats with the suspension: “There are others that should worry us”

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, said that he is not worried about the appeals for suspension, launched in the public space by Elena Lasconi or representatives of gold, amid the controversial reforms promoted by the Government. The head of state claims that such actions cannot be taken seriously in the absence of solid arguments.

“It is a very serious matter to ask for the suspension of a president voted by several million people. You have to have some arguments to ask for suspension or even revocation. I'm not worried at all. There are others the things that should worry us: deficit, economic relaunch, tensions in society, but not that”, Said Nicușor Dan in an interview for newsprotv.ro.
The reaction comes after Elena Lasconi, the mayor of Câmpulung, threatened with the suspension due to the tax reforms adopted by the government led by Ilie Bolojan, reforms that also affect the local administrations. In addition, Vice President Aur, Adrian Axinia, invoked the possibility of suspension if the president does not trigger a referendum on Romania's participation in a possible peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
“Bolojan must remain a prime minister, even if the law falls at the CCR”
In the same interview, President Nicușor Dan reaffirmed his support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, even if the pensions of the magistrates could be declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court. The head of state claims that Ilie Bolojan explicitly transmitted to him that he must remain in office.
“Law is not exact science, there are interpretations. The fact that a text of law does not pass the yard does not mean anything. It was not bad will, on the contrary, there was a good will to comply with the previous RCC decisions“, Said Nicușor Dan.
“The coalition will not collapse in the next two years”
Nicușor Dan also excluded a collapse scenario of the current ruling coalition, which he says “works very well”, despite tensions between political leaders.
“There is no scenario. I tell you with all responsibility: each party understands that it is in the national interest to remain in government. There is no risk that this coalition does not work at least one year, two from now on“, The president said.
