A ship whose crew consisted of Ukrainians sank in the Black Sea

The incident occurred 140 nautical miles (almost 260 km) east of the city of Varna.

The rescue operation began after receiving a report of a cargo ship with a hole in its side and water entering.

“The ship became tilted and was unable to cope with the problem on its own. As a result, the crew of 10 Ukrainian sailors abandoned the ship on two life rafts,” the report says.

A helicopter and the Turkish-flagged Murat Ilhan vessel were involved in the rescue operation.

Maritime.bg reported that the cargo ship Eileen, from which Ukrainians were evacuated, sank.

The ship was built in 1993, the last place where it anchored was Turkish Bartin on the Black Sea coast.
