The chief of the Israeli General Staff on Sunday night claimed a victory over Hamas in the Gaza war, on the eve of the long -awaited return to Israel, within the armistice mediated by US President Donald Trump, AFP reports.
“The military pressure I have exercised in the last two years”, since the attack of the Palestinian Islamist Movement of October 7, 2023, “together with complementary diplomatic measures, is a victory on Hamas,” said General Lieutenant Eyal Zamir in a short television discourse.
“We will continue to act to outline a security reality to guarantee that the Gaza strip will no longer be a threat to the state of Israel and its citizens,” he added.
Hamas has announced that he will begin to release the Israeli hostage from Gaza Monday morning, shortly before the “Summit of Peace” begins in Egypt, where, along with US President Donald Trump and the Egyptian Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, leaders of about 20 countries are expected, AFP reports.
