A test of the army's combat readiness is underway in Belarus, under which a “certain number” of units will be regrouped in “designated regions” of the country. Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alyaksandr Walfovich, explained on Sunday that the step was dictated by “Western hysteria,” Belarusian media reported.

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus said on Saturday in a message published on Telegram that “as part of the control of combat readiness, on the order of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces (the country's leader Alyaksandr Lukashenko – PAP), a number of activities are being carried out aimed at bringing the army to the highest level of combat readiness for the purpose of verification.”
“Several units will carry out a number of activities aimed at bringing them to combat readiness, will go to designated areas and perform the activities specified in the regulation,” it added. The inspection is supervised by the Security Council of Belarus.
The Secretary of the Council stated on Sunday – on the second day of the inspection – that checking the combat readiness of the Belarusian army is a response to Western military exercises and “Western hysteria.” The first stage focused on combat readiness, including: protection against drones, staffing and deployment of troops – said Walfowicz, quoted by the Zerkalo website.
In the second stage, military units march to designated areas, defeating, among others, water obstacles, using pontoon crossings built for this purpose – he added.
“All these actions are aimed at demonstrating to the West that if anything happens, we will be ready to defend our country,” noted the secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.
In mid-September, the Russian-Belarusian Zapad 2025 military maneuvers were held, the official goal of which was to “coordinate the actions of the troops of Russia and Belarus to ensure the countries' security and repel potential aggression.” (PAP)
