The Israeli attack who killed a journalist of the Reuters agency and injured six others on October 13, 2023 in the south of Lebanon is “a war crime,” a UN rapporteur said on Friday, AFP, taken over by Agerpres.

The attack took place at the beginning of the war between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah, concluded in November 2024, after making thousands of dead, of which over 1,100 women and children in Lebanon, according to the special rapporteur on extrajudicial executions, Morris Tidball-Binz.

In a press conference in Beirut, he appreciated that the shots that targeted journalists were “a premeditated, two-stroke attack of the Israeli forces, an obvious (…) violation of international law, a war crime.”

On October 13, 2023, an attack was killed on video jellylist Issam Abdallah of the Agency Reuters and injured six other reporters, including two AFP, Dylan Collins and Photographer Christina ASSI, who was later amputated.

Independent investigations, one of them worn by AFP, have come to the conclusion that a 120 mm 120 mm tank howle has been used. Israel denied that they had targeted journalists.

On October 25, 2024, three other journalists were killed in sleep by an Israeli blow in the south of Lebanon, according to the authorities of this country. “They were sleeping in a residence for clearly identified journalists (…) which could not have passed unobserved by the Israeli defense forces, who bombed the place,” the special report said.

The Israeli army has transmitted that the attack was on Hezbollah's fighters and that he is “in examination”.

The Tidball-Binz rapporteur was declared “deeply concerned about the magnitude, number and severity of Israeli attacks (…) including violations of international law.” “This continues today” in Lebanon, he added.

Despite the cessation of the fire that entered into force on November 27, 2024, Israel continues to hit the Lebanese territory, stating that Hezbollah is aimed, but also killing civilians, including a father and his three children on September 21. The United Nations indicated last week that they can confirm the death of 103 civilians in Lebanon since the declaration of the armistice.
