Electricity bills increase again, but this time the increase is insignificant, about 0.5 money per KWh. The cause is the increase of one of the regulated components of the invoice, respectively the tariff for the system services applied by Transelectrica.
Hidroelectrica, the supplier who at this time has the lowest price in the market and almost 900,000 customers, announced to consumers that the invoices they will receive from October will be higher:
- “We inform you that, starting with September 1, 2025, the new value of the regulated tariff for the system services, applied by the National Electric Energy Transport Company” Transelectrica “SA has entered into force.
- According to the Order of the Minister of Energy no. 60 of 26.08.2025, published in the Official Gazette, the tariff was increased from 7.04 lei/MWh to 12.79 lei/MWh. This tariff increase, imposed by regulation, will lead to an increase in the final price that you will pay for the electricity consumed. The new tariff will be reflected on the invoices issued starting with October 2025, applicable for energy consumption starting with September 2025, including ”, is the message received by the company's customers.
However, Hidroelectrica did not explain what this increase in people's invoices.
According to hotnews.ro calculations, this is an impact of 0.005 lei per kWh. That is, for an average bill of 100 kWh we will remove 50 extra money per month. For a consumption of 200 kWh, the increase is a lion.
Hidroelectrica: I did not change the price of active energy. All consumers will feel these changes
Hidroelectrica also issued a press release, explaining that the company did not decide to increase the price.
“In the context of articles recently published in the press, with titles of the type” Hidroelectrica expensive energy “, we want to bring a series of clarifications for the correct information of the public and our customers.
Hidroelectrica did not change the price of the active energy provided in its commercial offers. The increase reported in the final price invoiced to the consumers is determined exclusively by the increase of the regulated tariffs for the system services ”.
These regulated rates are mandatory components of the final price of electricity and are uniformly applied to all energy suppliers in Romania, without exception. Therefore, all consumers of electricity, regardless of the supplier chosen, will find this change in the invoices related to the consumption of September 2025, the company added.
The National Energy Regulatory Authority has decided to increase the system tariff in a meeting of the Regulatory Committee on August 26.
