Kadala Airport in Chita was closed due to a fire that has been burning for several days in Transbaikalia.
The fire came too close to the runway – it was impossible to take off. In total, there are 21 fires in the region covering 160 thousand hectares.
The flame spreads quickly. According to locals, it is impossible to breathe in Chita and the region due to the smoke and burning smell. While extinguishing a forest fire, one forester died and was attacked by a bear.
Babr Mash writes that nursing homes and villages in the region are already being evacuated.
The fire is being extinguished by 15 units of equipment and 69 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. They are helped by local residents and an Il-76, which extinguishes the fire from the air.
