The chief navigator of the Pacific Fleet died during the marathon in Vladivostok
41-year-old captain 2nd rank Evgeny Vityutnev felt unwell during the race on September 28. The navigator left the race, and doctors rushed to him. However, it was not possible to save the man.
Local media report that the tragedy occurred at one of the most difficult sections of the marathon – on the descent from Okatova Street towards Radiopribor, not far from the 5-kilometer start. Before Okatova there is a long climb. Many people can’t stand it and take a step.
Before the start, the marathon participants underwent a medical examination; the sailor had no obstacles to admission to the marathon.
