The statement of the Turkish president's office stated that he assured Putin, that Türkiye would continue to work for peace in Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the year, three rounds of talks between Russia and Ukraine delegations, the last in July, have been organized in Istanbul. Representatives of Kiev then proposed to the Russian side to organize a meeting of heads of both countries.
Talks conducted in May and June led to a series of exchanges of prisoners and the return of bodies of fallen soldiers. Both sides also exchanged memorands regarding the agreement on the suspension of weapons, but besides, no steps were taken towards the room. Kyiv and Moscow still have a different opinion on the conditions of possible suspension of weapons and peace.
The presidents of Turkey and Russia also raised the topics of bilateral relations of their countries and regional and global matters – added in the announcement of the Erdogan office. The Turkish president emphasized, among others, that Ankara makes every effort to guarantee a suspension of weapons in the Gaza Strip and secure humanitarian deliveries to this region.
During the conversation – the Erdogana Kancelaria said, the Turkish president also wished his Russian equivalent to his 73rd birthday.
