Voting on applications is scheduled for a plenary session in Strasbourg, which began on Monday. In her speech, von der Leyen turned to MEPs, emphasizing that she understood their doubts. She indicated that they result from concern for key challenges facing the European Union, such as economic safety, living costs, bureaucracy, climate change, food security and protection of democracy.
– I know that some of you are still not sure how to vote this week, But I also know that your doubts result from authentic care – said von der Leyen
The chairwoman of the EC declared openness to cooperation with MEPs to develop solutions. As she noted, the European Commission is ready to act in every necessary format to face problems together.
