US President Donald Trump announced the duties on Monday for imported trucks. The tax is to amount to 25 percent. And enter into force on November 1, although Trump originally announced that he would introduce him at the beginning of October.

“From November 1, 2025, all average and heavy trucks coming to the United States from other countries will be covered by duties with a rate of 25 percent. Thank you for your attention in this matter!” – wrote Trump.
At the end of September, the president announced 25 percent. The duty for trucks, but then announced that it would apply from October 1. So far, he has not signed any regulation in this matter. Trump argued that duties are to serve national security and protection of American producers such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner and Mack, before foreign competition.
“We need our truck drivers to be healthy and financially strong, for many reasons, but above all for the purposes of national security!” – Trump wrote in the September post.
It is not clear yet whether the duties announced by Trump are also to apply to trucks from the European Union countries. The USA and the EU concluded a preliminary framework agreement establishing duties on goods from the EU – including cars and light trucks – at 15 percent.
After the September announcement, the European Commission claimed that the agreement was clear and establishes 15 percent. As a limit for all products, ensuring that goods of European companies will not be covered by higher taxes.
