new recipes. What will change from October?

The Ministry of the Interior and Administration is working on changes in citizenship regulations. The deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Maciej Duszczyk often pointed out that a broad discussion is needed in this matter.
“At the end of October in the Ministry of Interior and Administration we will present a full package of solutions on Polish citizenship, which we have been working on for several months” – said on Monday at Platform X, the deputy head of this ministry Maciej Duszczyk.
Explained That the package will include minimum length of stay in Poland, also for foreigners of Polish origin; Tax residence and citizenship test.
Also the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński during the Monday ceremony of signing the erection act and laying the foundation stone for the new building of the State Medical Institute of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Warsaw was asked by PAP whether a project that tightens the principles of granting Polish citizenship was being prepared in his ministry. Last week, the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland presented its project in this matter.
– Yes, we will propose changes. (…) We will also talk to Mr. President about these principles – the minister announced.
– We want to introduce something like a test for Polish citizenship, also assessing the level of assimilation, level of knowledge of the Polish language He added.
President Karol Nawrocki sent a proposal regarding changes in the regulations on citizenship. The presidential project envisages the extension of three to 10 years of the minimum period of uninterrupted stay in Poland (based on permanent residence permit, permission to residence a long -term European Union or permanent residence) required to recognize a foreigner as a Polish citizen.
Kierwiński noted that in Poland there is no practice for someone to receive citizenship after three years.
“This is not less than eight years,” he clarified. In his opinion, “Ministers of the President misled him.” He also added that “extending time when it comes to gaining Polish citizenship is a simplification of the problem”, indicating that this problem is much broader.
Last week, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna wrote that work is underway in the Ministry of Interior and Administration on a draft new act on citizenship. As we read, “Among the solutions prepared, there is, among others, the concept of a civic test”.
“It is important not only the time spent in the state or activities undertaken in its territory, but also knowledge about the society, history and values of a given country,” said, cited by “DGP”, the deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Maciej Duszczyk.
As indicated, such a test for citizenship would be conducted “twice a year by an institution with government certificates”.
