Grindeanu: “PSD will not be the poor relative in this coalition.” What does the social-democratic leader say about the Bucharest elections
The leader of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, said that the Social Democrats did not change their position on the elections for the Capital City Hall and that they must be decided politically, within the coalition. He stressed that the PSD will not accept to be “poor relation” of the Alliance and asked to respect the principles established from the beginning of the collaboration with the governance partners.

“As soon as possible, in November. We have not changed our point of view ”said Sorin Grindeanu, asked about the organization of local elections in the Capital. According to the social-democratic leader, the decision must be taken within the ruling coalition, not unilateral: “The elections in Bucharest are about people, not about a man who will be the future mayor. It's about political decisions. We, politically, decided to be in this coalition. And the other coalition parties decided the same thing. We form this four -party alliance”.
Grindeanu explained that the PSD has put some clear conditions for maintaining the unity of the Alliance: “Or we have a common candidate, all partiesor every member party of this coalition has its own candidate. Otherwise, we wake up in a political coalition, isolated from the others. And then we need to ask ourselves what we are looking for in this coalition”.
“We do not want to be treated as the poor relative.”
Asked how PSD will react if Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will determine the date of elections without the party's consent, Grindeanu was sharp:
“It means that there is a greater political desire to have a man at the General City Hall than this political alliance”.

Grindeanu rejected the accusations that they would condition the right to vote of the Bucharest residents: “Have I ever said that? Not. I said of a political alliance – whether it is desired to continue or not. And an alliance about people, not a man. There is no political blackmail ””.
PSD position on package 3 of economic measures
The PSD leader also spoke about the future package of measures announced by the Government, specifying that the party supports the reforms “which are related to social justice“:”We agree that this is the last package. In package 3, these things are to be found in a certain social justice – the cumulative issues, excesses and reduction of expenses”.
He insisted that the measures regarding the local administration be applied balanced and at the central level: “If we talk about local administration, we must also talk about central administration. What is not normal is that, in the mayors, wages are much lower than at deconcentrated institutions”.
The PSD Congress this fall
Grindeanu confirmed that the party will organize the Congress this fall, most likely after the meeting of the National Political Council next week: “We have announced colleagues that next week we will make a national political council. This fall we will organize the Congress, for sure. It would be good to be up to the Christmas Post. ”
The PSD leader also stated that the party is located “In a solid economic situation“, Without debts:”At the PSD, things are as economically placed as possible. We have no debts, unlike others ”.
Grindeanu resumes the idea of progressive tax
Regarding the tax equity, Grindeanu stated that the solution remains the introduction of the progressive tax: “We have a simple proposal, which we resume with time: progressive tax. It is a proposal that solves these inequities. If it is properly seated, with a very well -developed deduction system, it works as in the rest of Europe”.
He admitted, however, that the PSD does not have the support of the entire coalition for this measure: “I proposed it and you know that we are alone there, from this point of view ”.
“I am not a fan of symbolic resignations”
Asked if Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan should resign if the law on the pensions of the magistrates will be declared unconstitutional, Sorin Grindeanu replied: “This is a public policy that the government makes. I am not a fan of these types of approaches. I didn't even see that the prime minister would support this idea. Finally, it is a unilateral act – everyone decides whether or not he resign. “
