On Thursday, the armed forces of Sweden presented their own C-uas anti-done system, allowing drones to detect and disposal or shooting down. According to the Swedish army, it is one of the most modern solutions to fight unmanned aerial vehicles.

This type of equipment was sent to Copenhagen this week in connection with the appearance of unidentified objects in the Danish airspace and the need to protect participants of the EU summit.

C-UAS (Counter Unmanned Aerial System) was created in cooperation with the SAAB group in a short time thanks to the combination of existing defensive devices, but currently operating separately.

On the helicopter landing pad at the Military Base in Kungsengen near Stockholm, the presented C-UAS includes three military vehicles. You can see a rotating radar, sensors are invisible. The system can disturb the functions of coming drones.

On one of the trucks there is a Tridon anti -aircraft gun, on the second armored vehicle a small RWS plot was placed. This armament is used in the case of a decision to shoot down a unmanned aerial vehicle.

As Johan Pakarinen from the Swedish Defense Order Agency (SVM) passed on PAP, the system allows “in a short time to connect all chain elements to be able to react quickly.” “If the object is 4 km away from us, when it is detected, reaching his destination will take him 48 seconds,” emphasized Pakarinen.

According to the expert, an important function is the ability to create “death zone” using missiles, i.e. initiating the explosion from an ongoing drone. “This allows you to destroy small drones, which are difficult to hit,” Pakarinen explained.

The C-UAS system is one of several projects currently implemented by the Swedish armed forces in cooperation with SVM, as well as FOI (Swedish Defense Research Agency) under the name Ucav demo. The program implemented in 2023-27 aims to quickly introduce drones and other unmanned vehicles for use, using Ukraine's experience. Others include Military vehicles controlled with a portable console: one off -road and the other caterpillar, allowing, for example, to evacuate wounded from the battlefield. Both were also presented at the base at Kungsaengen.

According to the Swedish armed forces, the C-uas system was used in Poland in the summer during the Mission of the Swedish army as part of NATO operations, as well as during the September exercises of soldiers from Sweden and Poland in Gotland under the codenamed Gotland guard.
