President Nicușor Dan was asked on Thursday, in Copenhagen, about how Romania will respond to the drones that violate its air space, in the context of drone incidents in the last weeks of Europe.

“Mr. President, will you begin to break down Russian drones that violate the Romanian airspace?”, Is the question addressed by a reporter from an international publication, in Copenhagen, according to Facebook images by Stiripesarse.ro.

Nicușor Dan replied: “I had only one. I tried, but I did not. I kept it. If we had one, yes.”

The president was present on Thursday in Denmark, where he participated in the meeting of the European Political Community. After the meeting, Nicușor Dan said that there were discussions about European security, hybrid, physical threats, but also about drones.

On September 13, Romania was on the verge of breaking a Russian drone that entered its air space, according to the statements made regarding this incident by the Minister of Defense, Ionuţ Mărieanu. The drone intercepted by F-16 aircraft has changed its flight direction to Ukraine.

In an interview with Euronews Romania after the drone incident in our country, Nicușor Dan was asked: “If a drone enters the national airspace,” to expect to break it? “. He replied: “Yes. It is a matter of showing determination in front of a potential aggression, when we talk about drones. When we talk about pilot aircraft, it is more complicated. As an instinct, I prefer to be more cautious.

Similar incidents have taken place in the last weeks and in other countries in Europe. Estonia has accused Russia of sending fighter jets in her airspace, and NATO airplanes brought down drones over Poland.

Also, the airports in Denmark and Norway suspend their operations after Drone were observed in their airspace, feeding the debate between European leaders on the feasibility of a “drone wall” on the eastern flank to protect against Russian aggression. Germany and Belgium have recently reported that Drone had been overcome by the air spaces.
