Trump authorizes targeted blows, but Ukraine cannot achieve an advantage if Russia is “like a sanctuary”

Trump has allowed the provision of information to Ukrainians to hit Russia's energy infrastructure more precisely, but hesitates in providing Tomahawk guided rockets and does not impose hard sanctions to Moscow.

The Trump administration has decided to provide Ukraine with long -range information support on some Russian targets, a change that could increase the precision and efficiency of Ukrainian attacks, especially against Russian energy infrastructure.

The Hudson Institute recently reported that Russia has begun to protect its energy installations with metal structures and even banned gasoline export until the end of 2025 to preserve their resources, following repeated attacks with Ukrainians on Russian refineries, writes Wall Street Journal.

However, a possible delivery of Tomahawk missiles (with a radius of over 2,000 km) is still expected, and the American administration has rejected at least once and the use of Atams rockets against Russian targets. According to Wall Street Journal, it shows the existence of an intense debate in Washington on how the United States should manage President Vladimir Putin's refusal to negotiate.

The American publication notes that although the white house decision marks a step forward, Donald Trump's policy remains ambiguous. WSJ emphasizes Ukraine cannot get an advantage on the front if Trump sees Russia “Like a sanctuary”and Washington should allow the Ukrainians to hit the Russian capital.

US journalists have recently learned that Trump has refused at least the authorization of Ukraine's use of Atacms, with a ray of 300 km. Although they have already been delivered to Ukraine, during the Biden administration, each launch needs the prior approval of the American administration. Since Trump's arrival at the White House, the attackers have been stopped.

Journalists point out that the Washington administration is still hesitant to adopt tougher measures, such as additional sanctions against Russian oil buyers, confiscating frozen assets or providing more advanced weapons, such as Tomahawk missiles. Donald Trump has criticized the Biden administration in the past, which he accused of prevening Ukraine from responding with attacks on Russian territories.

Even in August, Donald Trump stated: “It is very difficult, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking the invader country ”, arguing that in order to win a war it takes the ability to hit the “invader country”. He added: “It is like a large team of sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play in the attack. There is no chance of winning! ”.

While the Pentagon is afraid that such a strategy could be perceived as climbing, the WSJ editorial concludes that American support for long -range attacks is a significant improvement in Ukraine's position.
