Local residents informed about the presence of drones near the airport – DPA agency said, citing police sources.

Closing the port led to the appeal of 17 planned flights and redirects to other airports 15 more. Nearly 3,000 passengers were forced to interrupt the journey. Many of them spent the night at the airport.

In Munich, there is a ban on regular passenger flights from midnight to 5 am. At this time, only night mail flights and special flights are allowed.

The media reported that small unmanned aerial vehicles appeared over Thyssenkrupp factory facilities, as well as the University Hospital and the Keli power plant. The refinery at Heide, supplying the airport in Hamburg with fuel, also probably became the target of intelligence penetration by drones, “Der Spiegel” informed. Law enforcement authorities in Germany initiated an investigation into suspected spying of critical infrastructure objects by unmanned aerial vehicles.

The authorities did not publicly indicate the specific perpetrator of the incident with drones in Munich, but some European officials suggest that Moscow stands behind the recent violations of the airspace – noted the Reuters agency. – Russia is trying to check us. But Russia is also trying to sow divisions and anxiety in our societies – warned on Wednesday the chairwoman of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. (PAP)
