Barcelona, for the 6th winning time of the World Clubs Championship »Spectacular Final with Veszprem, the 2024 champion

Barcelona's men's handball team won the World Club Championship for the 6th time, after a final with Veszprem, which needed extensions: 31-30. The small final was awarded by SC Magdeburg against Al Ahly, score 32-23.
Between September 26 and October 2, the new administrative capital of Egypt hosted this year's World Championship for men's handball clubs. The 9 participants were Veszprem (Hungary), Al Ahly (Egypt), Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), Sydney University (Australia), California Eagles (USA), Handol Taubate (Brazil), SC Magdeburg (Germany), Zamalek (Egypt) and FC Barcelona (Spain).
The final between Barcelona and Veszprem needed extensions
SC Magdeburg, the winner of the Champions League, Veszprem, the champion of the competition, and FC Barcelona, a beneficiary of a Wild-card, won the 3 groups, and Al Ahly Li joined the semifinals, being the best team ranked second.
In the penultimate act, Veszprem prevailed with 23-20 in front of Magdeburg, and Barcelona passed with 26-21 Al Ahly. Further, Europe's champion defeated Egypt, score 32-23, and ended the World Club Championship in 3rd place.
The final between Veszprem and Barcelona followed, playing in front of 4000 spectators. The game between the two European formations was extremely balanced, and as proof, at the break, the Spaniards were leading 13-12 and, after 60 minutes, the score was equal: 21-21.
The balance also maintained in the extensions of the final but, finally, Barcelona won 31-30 and awarded the 6th title in this competition, after those obtained in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The winner's leaders were Aleix Gomez Abello (6 goals), Ian Barrufet (5 goals), Dika Mem (4 goals) and Timothey N'Guessan (4 goals).
On the other side, Christian Descat (8 goals), Ivan Martinovic (6 goals), Nedim Remili (6 goals) and Gasper Marcu (4 goals) were noted.
