An attempt to poison Bashar al-Assad. The former leader of Syria was hospitalized

Since its overthrow at the beginning of December last year, 60-year-old Assad has been in Russia, which granted him and his family political asylum. Since escaping to Moscow, Asad has not been publicly shown and – as it is believed – is protected by Russian special services.
According to Sohr, citing the “private source” Baszszar Assad was able to critically hit the hospital near Moscow after trying to poison, but on Monday he was discharged and his condition is stable. For security reasons, during his hospitalization the only person who could visit him was his younger brother Maher.

According to this source, the purpose of trying to poison Assad was to “compromise the Russian government and accuse him of being complicit” his death. The Russian authorities have not yet referred to SOHR reports.
The new Syri authorities are demanding the extradition of Assad, which in a dictatorial way ruled the country in 2000-2024, but Russia refuses to release it. The US Department of State estimates that the assets of the Assad family, hidden in various accounts abroad, in companies registered for other persons or in real estate, reaches $ 2 billion. In turn, the British daily Daily Mail said that the Assad's family had to buy at least 20 apartments in Moscow in recent years with a total value of 30 million pounds.
