Bolojan, discussions on investment projects and possible legislative adjustments for the Safe program

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan convened a new Government meeting on the projects that will be included in the Safe Financing Program. The discussions have viewed possible legislative adjustments and the inclusion of projects from the perspective of the location.

A new working meeting on the projects that Romania will support to be included in the financial instrument Safe (Security Action for Europe) took place today, at the Victoria Palace, under the coordination of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, announces the Government of Romania.

Government officials have analyzed the portfolio of projects considered by the Romanian state and from the perspective of locating in Romania as many investment projects as possible. Such a decision will have an impact on the development of the national defense industry, the increase of the production capacity and the participation in the value chains of the European defense industry.

Also, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, ministers and ministries have discussed the existing legislative framework and any adjustments needed to support the implementation of investment projects that will be supported through the Safe program. These aspects will be followed at the level of the ministries, so that, at the time of approval by the European Commission of the List of projects submitted by Romania, the normative framework will be prepared to facilitate their implementation ”.

16.68 billion euros funding through SAFE mechanism

Romania will benefit from 16.68 billion euros financing through the European Security Action for Europe (SAFE) mechanism, according to the provisional allocations announced by the European Commission for Member States, this being the second largest allocation established by the Commission. Participation in the Safe program has three components: defense, budget and infrastructure, the Executive shows:

“The Safe (Security Action for Europe) instrument is a temporary financial mechanism of the European Union, with a budget of 150 billion euros, in the form of loans, for which 19 Member States, including Romania, expressed interest.

The work meeting at the Victoria Palace participated, together with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Deputy Prime Minister Cătălin-Predoiu, Minister of Internal Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Ionuț Moșteanu, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Economy, Digitization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu Miruă, Radu Miruă, Radu Miruă, Radu Miru The presidential counselor, Radu Burnete, as well as ministries ”.

The Council of the European Union adopted on May 27, 2025 a regulation for the establishment of the action for Europe (SAFE), a financial tool that will support the Member States willing to invest in industrial defense production through common acquisitions, focused on priority capacities.
