The French President Emmanuel Macron has registered at the end of September the lowest level of popularity since he arrived at the Elysee Palace in 2017, only 22%of public opinion being favorable, while the leader of the right, Marine Le Pen, and her successor, Jordan Bardella, registered 36%, respectively 37%.
These are the results published on Tuesday by an opinion poll conducted by the Odoxa Institute, in which 78% of the French believe that Emmanuel Macron is not “a good president of the Republic,” according to Agerpres.
The figures indicate a “record decrease” of the popularity of President Macron, with a loss of 6 percent, a “record decline in 8 years” since he won his first presidential elections in 2017, according to the survey for the Senate Public Parliamentary Television Channel and about 20 regional newspapers.
His new prime minister, Sebastien Lecornu, who is in the final stage of choosing the members of his office and the elaboration of the budget plan for 2026, registers a popularity index of 32%, with ten percent over the head of state.
However, Lecornu remains one of the most unpopular prime ministers that President Macron has appointed from the beginning of his term, being exceeded only by his precursor to matignon (government residence), Francois Bayrou, being about ten percent under most of his predecessors, according to Odoxa.
In contrast, the far -right leaders Bardella and Le Pen lead in the ranking of political popularity by 37%, respectively, 36%, according to the ODOXA survey conducted 18 months before the following presidential elections.
In this poll, the French are very worried about the future: 83% declare themselves “pessimists about the future of their country” and eight out of ten provide for “an increase in taxes” and an “weak economic growth” this year.
They are afraid of a collapse of the social protection system in a week in which 80 years have passed since the application of the current system, of which 91% of the French are very “attached”. 90% of the interviewees believe that in the future they will be repaid worse.
The survey was conducted online, between September 24 and 25, on a sample of 1,005 persons, representative for the French population over 18 years, by the quota method and with an error margin between 1.4 and 3.1 percent.
