President Nicușor Dan participates, on Tuesday, in the meeting of the heads of state and government of the “Coalition of the Willing” (Coalition of the Willing) in Paris, Elysee Palace, according to the Presidential Administration.
On Saturday, Ukraine's European allies met in Kiev to discuss details of the latest version of the plan to end the conflict with Russia, ahead of a “Coalition of the Will” summit. The coalition is made up of states that support Ukraine, AFP reports, according to Agerpres.
Security advisers from 15 countries, including France, Germany and Canada, as well as representatives of the European Union and NATO gathered in the Ukrainian capital for this first meeting of the year.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff attended remotely, a Ukrainian official confirmed to AFP.
“The first part of the meeting focused on the framework documents, in particular the security guarantees and approaches of the peace plan, as well as the sequence of the next common steps,” Ukraine's chief negotiator Rustem Umerov said on Telegram on Saturday after the first session.
Diplomatic efforts have intensified since November to end Europe's bloodiest conflict since World War II, led by US President Donald Trump, whose administration has held separate negotiations with Russia and Ukraine.
In his New Year's address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said a deal was “90% ready”, but warned that the remaining 10% would determine the “fate of peace”, as the future of territories occupied by Russia remains a key issue.
