What financial results does BGK have? It will support strategic investments, such as a nuclear power plant or CPK
– Our role is to supplement the sources of financing, in particular from commercial sources – says Business Insider Polska President of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego Mirosław Czekaj. He adds that BGK involvement in large projects will depend on the bank's capital capabilities. However, the BGK offer is already growing when it comes to financial solutions, including credit and charging.
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego's credit and branch involvement in the first half of 2025 amounted to PLN 193 billion. This is an increase of PLN 17.5 billion compared to the same period of 2024. The bank's financial result for the first half of the year is over PLN 1.5 billion. This is about PLN 40 million in relation to the first half of 2024.
In 2024, BGK generated PLN 389 billion in support for the economy, i.e. 9 percent. More than in 2023, credit and branching involvement (balance sheet and balance) amounted to PLN 190 billion at the end of 2024 and was the highest in history. Compared to 2023, it increased by 11.3 percent.

As Mirosław Czekaj says, strategic infrastructure projects, including a nuclear power plant and CPK are part of the BGK strategy. – We look at each such project with attention, even if it is in the preparatory phase. At the same time, it indicates that these types of projects are very capital -intensive and complex, require compiled financial structures with a multi -level structure of financing sources.

However, we see the important role of the Polish Development Bank in the organization of these projects. Our perspective refers not only to the business issue for the bank. We look at these types of strategic projects, taking into account their economic importance and the security of the country – indicates the president of BGK.

BGK records an increase in revenues
In the first six months of 2025, BGK recorded an increase in revenues by PLN 74 million – up to PLN 2.6 billion. The bank's balance sheet sum for the first half is PLN 355 billion, i.e. by about 38 percent. More compared to the first half of 2024.
In 2024, BGK recorded record revenues of PLN 5.3 billion and generated a net result of PLN 2.9 billion.
In the opinion of the President of BGK, the bank's financial condition is very good, which is due to the fact that it implements all the assumptions of the strategy, and at the same time maintains high efficiency.
The bank's development translates into expanding the possibilities of financing the Polish economy.

Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego acts as a Polish Bank of Development
Mirosław Czekaj emphasizes that today BGK plays the role of the State Bank of Development. – Development banks have the largest European countries – Germany, France, Italy or Spain. BGK is a key entity implementing government socio-economic programs – adds the president of BGK.
He points out that BGK also plays an important role in the matter of defense support, for example. – The bank is the operator of the Armed Forces Support Fund, which in the year increases its scope of activity. For example, this year planned expenses from the FWSZ reach about PLN 70 billion. This is the highest level in the history of the fund's functioning. Expenses for the purchase of weapons are financed from FWSZ funds – lists the president of BGK.
