The police of the Republic of Moldova sent a statement on Monday, September 29, announcing that it has information on possible attempts to corruption of citizens in the context of the planned protest in the Chisinau capital. Thus, according to the authorities, some people would have been offered money to be present at the demonstration, although they would have initially hesitated to go out.

The meeting takes place against the background of the dissatisfaction expressed by some political parties and groups against the result of the weekend parliamentary elections, won by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), a pro-European formation led by President Maia Sandu.

The press from the Republic of Moldova writes that the recruited protesters are promised 150 euros, but also a “bonus” of 50 euros, if they come with a friend, as well as “tea and coffee” from the house.

“The police hold information that for participating in the protest announced today in the capital they are promised money, in the context in which people are refusing to go out. We repeatedly remind the organizers that they bear absolute responsibility for these actions and that the law punishes such illegality,” is shown in the official statement.

The institution stressed that it respects the freedom of expression and the right of citizens to protest, but urged the participants to respect the law.

The police respect the right of each person to the free expression and urge the citizens to control their actions, not to be lured and to respect their dignity.

After counting 90.91% of the votes, PAS obtained 50.16%, followed by the Patriotic Block 24.19% and Be alternative 7.97%.
