The UN decided. After years, sanctions come back to Iran

The decision to re -impose sanctions on Iran was made on September 19, when the Security Council voted for a decision on this matter. In 2015, as a result of an agreement in which Iran undertook to limit his nuclear program, the restrictions were frozen. On Friday, only two countries stood up behind China and Russia's delay in life, nine were against, and two abstained.

Sanctions for Iran. “Best solution”

The AFP agency emphasized that the restoration of the UN sanctions prompted the Western states to undertake new diplomatic procedures to regulate relations with Iran. In this context, a message of the American State Press Office was recalled. The head of US diplomacy Marco Rubio emphasized in him that, despite the re -entry into force of the restriction of Washington, he does not lose hope for agreement with Tehran.

“President (Donald) Trump clearly hinted that (…) the agreement remains the best solution for both the Iranian nation and the world. For this to happen, Iran must agree to direct negotiations conducted in good faith, without delays and excuses,” wrote Rubio.

Foreign ministers of Great Britain, France and Germany assured in a joint statement that they would continue to look for a “new diplomatic solution, which will guarantee that Iran would never win nuclear weapons.”

Iran: We don't want to build nuclear weapons

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran has about 440 kg of uranium enriched to 60 percent, which after enriching to 90 percent would allow you to buy eight to ten nuclear bombs. Tehran denies that he would seek nuclear weapons at all. The Iranian authorities emphasize that their nuclear program has a peaceful character. According to the 2015 agreement, the degree of enrichment of uranium in the Iranian nuclear program may not exceed 3.67 percent.

The Iranian oil minister Mohsen Paknedżad stated on Wednesday that the introduction of UN sanctions would not cause “new, troublesome restrictions” regarding the export of Iranian oil. – In recent years we have been dealing with such harsh restrictions, resulting from the US unjust and unilateral sanctions that in practice (UN sanctions – PAP) will not have a significant impact – added Paknedżad.

The day before, the highest leader of Iran Ajatollah Ali Chamenei repeated that his country would not give up enriching uranium. In a recording published on the Internet, he also assured that Tehran did not want to produce nuclear weapons. US President Donald Trump consistently repeats that Iran “cannot have nuclear weapons”.
