Nine aircraft, including a military one, were forced to land on a runway of “Henri Coandă” airport on Sunday, used mainly for deposits, after the pilots of an Airbus A330 Turkish Airlines who landed on Otopeni reported to the air traffic controllers the presence of a drone in the vicinity of the airport.

According to the quoted publication, on Sunday afternoon, the pilots of an Airbus A330 Turkish Airlines who land at “Henri Coandă” (Otopeni) airport in Bucharest reported the presence of a drone in the vicinity of the airport.

The plane of the Turkish airline safely landed on the 08L track of the Otopeni airport at 14:27, but an air traffic controller asked the pilots of the British Airways aircraft that operates the flight of BA886 London (UK) – Bucharest to maintain an altitude of 2,000 feet, to interrupt the landing procedure and to fly on the direction.

Subsequently, the airline of the British airline and eight other planes, including a military one, landed on the 08R track of the Otopeni Airport, used mainly for taking off, writes BoardingPass.

40 minutes after the reporting made by the pilots of the Turkish airline, the landings were resumed on the 08L track of the busiest airport in the country. Also, the information obtained by BoardingPass indicates that the drone was outside the perimeter of the airport (between DN1 and Buftea), and not on any of its tracks.
