Video Nicușor Dan: “The chances of a military conflict expand beyond the Ukraine border are extremely, extremely small” / “and we would have fired” in the Russian drone “if the conditions were met”

The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, told Digi24 on Thursday that “European and Western countries have shown determination to defend themselves” in the context of the security incidents that Russia has caused lately.
Asked how he appreciates the risk of a direct military conflict with Russia, Nicușor Dan replied: “Extremely, extremely small, so the chances of a military conflict will expand beyond the Ukraine border are extremely, extremely small, because (…) European and Western countries have shown determination to defend themselves.”
“Of course, when you send drones or even, as it was in Estonia, aircraft on a foreign territory, obviously you risk an incident that can degenerate,” said Nicușor Dan, who said that in the current context, “under this pressure from Russia,” he notes “a reinforcement of European solidarity.”
“There is no difference in approach between Poland and Romania”
The head of state reminded the incident on September 13, when in the area of Chilia Veche in the Delta a Russian drone sailed for 50 minutes in the airspace of Romania, then leaving the country, under the monitoring of NATO military aircraft.
“According to the order that existed since July, those who were on the plane could break it, they did not need to call the minister, the president or the military chief of the army, but it was an opportunity decision they made not to shoot when they could take down,” said Nicușor Dan.
Asked about the decision of Warsaw to break down the Russian drones that violated his air space, Nicușor Dan replied: “We would have drawn if the conditions were met. There is no approach between Poland and Romania.”
He also said that the decision of the sovereign parties to oppose the Law on Drones Bloom is “another sign” that “their direction of action is aligned with Moscow”.
The President of Romania stated that the Russians “started an informational war on the Western world” since 2014, “trying, if possible, where, to impose, to help a leadership that will be favorable to them, including Romania 2024, or, if not, at least to the distrust of the population in the Western Democratic model, and I do this.
Nicușor Dan confirmed that “working” at the new national defense strategy.
“Of course, it is a legal obligation that any president has, to propose to the Parliament in six months from the investment, we have two more months. It is working on it, that is, it is a consultation with all the institutions so that the document is one to take into account the current challenges. Compared to four years ago, the world, the context, we have a lot, and then, and then, and then, World, ”added President Nicușor Dan.
