A new Danish airport was forced to close on Thursday night, this being the second Denmark alert in the last two days, given that the Copenhagen authorities said the country is the target of a “hybrid attack” of unknown origin from the beginning of the week, AFP reports.

The air space above Aalborg airport, in northern Denmark, had to be closed on Thursday night for about an hour due to a drone alert, before being reopened on Friday, around 00:35, the Danish police said.

The closure of the airport forced a KLM flight from Amsterdam to return and led to a Scandinavian Airlines flight with take-offs from Copenhagen, according to the websites of flights and websites of airlines.

At this stage, the authorities did not officially confirm the presence of drones.

Denmark is on alert after a series of incidents in its airspace since Monday.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen denounced the “hybrid attacks” and warned that drone flights “could multiply.”

The Danish authorities have not identified the origin of these devices so far. But “there is mainly a country that represents a threat to Europe's security, namely Russia,” Frederiksen said.

At the end of a meeting with the Danish leader, the French President Emmanuel Macron was ready to “contribute to the security of the Danish air space.”

The EU countries will discuss a proposal of the President of the European Commission on Thursday, Ursula von der Leyen, to create a “wall” against drones.

In Denmark, Drone were spotted on Wednesday night over Aalborg (North), Esbjerg (West), progerborg (south) and Skrydstrup (South), according to the police.

On Monday evening, drones of unknown origin became overdue Copenhagen and Oslo (Norway) airports, blocking traffic for several hours.

These surprises are the work of a “professional agent” and constitute a “systematic threat”, said Defense Minister, Troles Lund Pousen.

Norway announced on Thursday that he had arrested a man of foreign origin operating a drone near the International Airport in Oslo. The device was confiscated.
