President Iran Masud Pezeszkian said on Wednesday in a speech in the UN that his country never strived and would not strive to build an atomic weapon. The West accuses Iran of breaking the contract of 2015, which was to prevent him from obtaining atomic weapons and restores sanctions at Tehran.

“We don't want an atomic weapon,” Pezezkian declared, speaking in New York during the general debate at the 80th UN General Assembly session.
He added that his state “would never bend against aggressors” and criticized the June aggression of Israel and the USA on Iran. The authorities in Jerusalem emphasized that the 12 days intensive raids were aimed at Iranian nuclear objects, because Tehran accelerated work on nuclear weapons. American aviation also joined the attacks.
Pezeszkian called these activities “treason of diplomacy”, reminding that Israel attacked when Iran negotiated a new nuclear agreement with the USA. Israeli aggression undermined efforts in favor of stability and peace in the region – noted the Iranian leader.
In his speech, he also accused Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip and killing “at least 35,000 innocent civilians” there. The Gaza Zone Ministry controlled by Hamas reported on Wednesday about over 65.4 thousand. killed, without distinguishing between civilians and fighters. The Israeli army estimated that around 22,000 were killed by August. Hamas fighters and other terrorist groups.
Pezeszkian also criticized the “Zionist regime”, accusing the authorities in Jerusalem of implementing the construction plan for the “Great Israel” and calling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “criminal”.
Representatives of the Tehran regime have repeatedly declared the desire to destroy Israel. For the government in Jerusalem, Iran remains the most important and dangerous enemy.
Over the past two years, in addition to the war with Palestinian Hamas, he has also successfully conducted a number of military operations against Iran supported by Iran, including Libanese Hesbollah or Yemenian Rebels Huti. These groups joined Hamas and attacked Israel after the attack on October 7, 2023.
The UN Security Council voted on September 19 to impose sanctions on Iran, which were frozen as part of the 2015 agreement. The contract was to limit the Iranian nuclear program, but after the US withdrew in 2018, Tehran began to leave her records.
The West from a long time accuses Iran of developing the abilities needed to build a nuclear bomb, including enriching uranium to a level similar to the one that is needed for military purposes. Tehran maintains that his nuclear program has a peaceful character.
Great Britain, France and Germany applied for restoration of sanctions. Theoretically, the decision may still be changed, but the negotiations so far in this matter have no effect.
