The plan to modernize the Pro Rapid base also includes an expansion of the current sports base in Sector 1, which is in disrepair. It is not the first attempt by the Ministry of Transport to modernize the base inaugurated in 1998. The idea behind the project is to create a space intended for performance athletes, but also for the local community.

On the only rendering provided by Ciprian Şerban in the post on Facebook, it can be seen that the project contains a rugby field, tennis courts, multi-sport fields, but also the modernized hotel from Pro Rapid.

“Major investment in the sports base of Club Rapid.

Today, together with George Tuță, the mayor of District 1, and Vlad Andronescu, the director of Club Rapid, we signed the collaboration protocol for the financing of the modernization, rehabilitation, expansion and equipment of the base of Club Sportiv Rapid Bucharest.

The financing will be provided in stages from the budget of Sector 1, the investment will bring significant social and community benefits. Its total value is approximately 50 million lei. For its part, Clubul Rapid will contribute to the costs of modernizing the sports base.

It will be used both by performance athletes and the local community, ensuring access to children, young people and citizens of Sector 1 to sports activities in a modern, airy and safe space”, Ciprian Şerban said on his personal Facebook page.
