In Krasnoyarsk, cancer patient retained easy thanks to the complex reconstruction of the bronchi

In the regional oncology dispensary, a 64-year-old patient with lung cancer was successfully performed. Doctors retained two -thirds of the right lung, having reconstructed the respiratory tract.

In a man, a tumor was found in the upper lobe of the right lung with the transition to the right main bronchus. With such a pathology, experts completely remove the lung, as a result of which a person breathes only at the expense of the left lung, which is only 40 % of the total respiratory system.

As explained by the head of the Torar Oncology Department of the regional clinical dispensary Alexei Kh, the uniqueness of the operation was the need to combine bronchi of different diameters – one and a half centimeter branches with a three -centimeter main bronchus. Such interventions are carried out in Russia no more than 70 times a year.

The man spent three days in intensive care and was discharged on the 13th day after surgery with normal breathing. His condition is evaluated as satisfactory. Now he expects the results of additional tests to determine further tactics of treatment.
