Police officers from the Iași County Police Inspectorate carried out, on Tuesday, a series of actions in the Iași county to ensure the legality in the field of establishing Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, but also of the citizens of the Russian Federation and other States.

According to a statement of IPJ Iași, 23 locations were checked in the action and 30 people were legitimized.
“Police officers carried out checks based on the information made available by the structures of Evidence of persons, in 23 locations in the municipality of Iași, as well as in Iași county, context in which the circumstances in which the taking of space was made were analyzed. At the same time, the purpose of the action was to ensure the respect of the legality in the field of establishing in Romania the Romanian citizens originally from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, but also from the Russian Federation and other states, from the police point of view.”, The statement said.
The checks were carried out in the context of recent changes in the legislation regarding the domicile and residence, which aimed to adapt the procedures to the principles of debirocratization and administrative simplification, as well as the diminution of phenomena that have created negative effects in society.
The most recent changes concern in particular the situations of the persons who no longer live in the address or residence, as well as the elimination of the possibility of registration in the identity document of an address to which more than 10 persons are included, according to Law no. 162 of 31.05.2023 for the modification and completion of GEO 97/2005 regarding the record, domicile, residence and identity documents of Romanian citizens.
The action of the policemen was aimed at ensuring compliance with the legislation, as well as preventing situations that could lead to incorrect or fraudulent records in administrative records, thus contributing to maintaining the order and legality on the territory of Iași county.
The checks were carried out in both the urban and rural areas, and the police officers collaborated closely with the persons of records of persons to ensure that all available information was used effectively in the action.
The Iași County Police Inspectorate stressed that such actions will continue in the next period, to ensure compliance with the legality and to prevent the phenomena that contravene the legislation on domicile and residence.
