Gas stove in Poland – new regulations and bans of the European Union

European Union explains the future gas furnaces. Contrary to the fears of the EU, it does not plan to dismantle gas furnaces in existing buildings. By 2029, the installation of new gas boilers will be possible on the current terms – writes wnp.pl.
However, from 2030, in new and deeply modernized buildings, gas boilers will be able to be installed only in combination with renewable energy sources (renewable energy), such as heat pumps, solar collectors or photovoltaic panels.
At the same time, boilers powered by renewable gas, such as biomethane or hydrogen, will not be subject to any restrictions, even after 2030.
In existing buildings, the replacement and repair of heating devices will take place unchanged, unless the building is subjected to deep thermomodernization.
Gas stove. The European Commission explains
The European Commission emphasizes that the withdrawal of fossil fuels from the heating sector should take place by 2040. Member States are to operate in accordance with this assumption, although the EPBD Directive does not provide for sanctions for the lack of achieving this goal.
The EC specified the concept of “fossil fuel boilers”. According to the guidelines, it is the fuel used in the boiler that decides whether in 2040 the boiler will be considered a funeral -fired boiler or not
Zero -emission buildings
Commission guidelines also specify what requirements must be met by zero -emission buildings. According to the new rules, bioenergia powered boilers (e.g. biogas, biomass or biopoly) will be considered to be using renewable energy sources, but only if fuel combustion takes place on the spot.
Bioenergy produced outside the building will be treated as “remote energy”, which may reduce the energy characteristics of the building. The Polish Liquid Gas Organization points out that this provision may be controversial during the implementation of the directive in individual member countries.
Gas stoves “after new”. What does this mean for consumers?
The most important information for building owners is the fact that existing gas boilers will not be subject to mandatory dismantling. People planning the modernization of heating systems have until 2029 to use the current rules. After this date, the new regulations will require adapting to more ecological standards, especially for new buildings and those subjected to deep modernization.
The new guidelines of the European Commission are aimed at gradually limiting the use of fossil fuels in heating, while giving Member States and consumers time to adapt to changes. For the construction and energy industry, this means the need to adapt to new standards that can affect the shape of the market in the coming decades.
