In response, the man used a red laser indicator and lit it to the Secret Service officer in the eyes, temporarily blinded him. After a while, Winkler directed the laser to the flying presidential helicopter, which created a direct threat to the safety of the machine and crew with Donald Trump on board. The US president was just leaving the White House.
Santiago stopped the man, took him a laser indicator and put on handcuffs. According to the case file, which the NBC News station reached, Winkler fell to his knees and began to say: “I should apologize to Donald Trump” and “Sorry, Donald Trump.” A knife with a blade with a length of about 7.5 cm was found with a detainee.
