The Russian government supported the bill on the deprivation of acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation for evasion of military service, TASS reports with reference to the official review of the Cabinet to the bill.

People who have received Russian citizenship have 2 weeks to come to the military registration and enlistment office and get up to military registration. This can also be done through the public services portal, but the deadline is reduced – you need to have time to submit an application in a week. If this is not done, a person falls on the slope list.

Already 5 working days after this, the military registration and enlistment office will send information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From this moment, a person has 30 days to register. If this does not happen, it will be deprived of citizenship.

Legal grounds for depriving citizenship due to evasion of military registration were enshrined in 2024, but the law did not have a practical implementation mechanism.

A person will be able to re -try to become a citizen of Russia no earlier than three years later. From this rule there will be exceptions for individuals and in some situations.

Simultaneously with people who dodged military registration, it is proposed to deprive the citizenship of their relatives, including children. An exception is a situation when the second parent remains a citizen of the Russian Federation or when the child is in the orphanage. In addition, citizenship will be left veterans of military operations, military personnel, those who were awarded the State Has, who are admitted to GOSTain, and members of their families.

The government supported the bill with the condition for refinement of some points. In particular, legislators must provide for the informing of a citizen about the decisions made in his regard and the possibility of appeal, as well as clarify the wording of the issue of deprivation of children's citizenship. The wording must be clarified in order to exclude the possibility of “terminating the citizenship of the Russian Federation from children who have acquired it by birth.”
