Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised on Sunday that he will expand the Jewish settlements in the busy West Bank, after the decision of Great Britain, Canada and Australia to recognize a Palestinian state, AFP reports.

In the message addressed to the leaders of the three countries, the prime minister of Israel said there will be no Palestinian state.

“For years, I have prevented the creation of this terrorist state, despite the huge pressure both internally and internationally,” said Netanyahu, who claims that establishing a Palestinian state “would endanger the existence” of Israel “and serve as absurd reward for terrorism.”

“I did this with political determination and wisdom. Moreover, we doubled the Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria and we will continue in this way,” he said, using the biblical name of the Bank.

Israel argues that Palestine recognition “will not help any Palestinian”

Israeli president Isaac Herzog claims that the decision of Great Britain, Canada and Australia to recognize Palestine is to the detriment of those who want peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

“It will not help any Palestinian, it will not help to release any hostages and it will not help us to reach any understanding between Israeli and Palestinians,” Herzog said on a Sunday statement.

“It will only encourage the forces of darkness. This is a sad day for those who seek true peace,” concluded the president of Israel, Isaac Herzog.

On Sunday, the UK, Canada and Australia have officially recognized Palestine. In June, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will do the same, on the occasion of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 22. Other countries have announced similar plans.
