Estonia is ready to participate in a possible peacekeeping operation in Ukraine with a military force up to a company, Kristen Michal announced in a common press conference with her Finnish counterpart on Tallinn, according to Reuters.

Michal did not mention how many troops could include such a force.

Kiev and NATO allies collaborate to ensure that security guarantees for Ukraine will be so robust that Russia will never try to attack it, said the Secretary General of the Alliance, Mark Rutte, who said that Europe, and the US will be involved in their supply.

“We are now working together – Ukraine, Europeans, the United States – to ensure that these security guarantees are at a level so Vladimir Vladimirovici Putin, who is in Moscow, never try to attack Ukraine,” Rutte said on Friday, when she paid a visit to Kiev.

Details on security guarantees

The American publication Bloomberg reported on August 19 that the security guarantee package for Ukraine could be completed this week. One of the variants discussed is the sending of British and French troops to Ukraine, along with contingents from about 10 other countries.

Both French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have ruled in favor of troops in a possible post-war agreement, as part of the will for Ukraine, and Chancellor Friedrich Merz has also noted for Germany's participation.

The British newspaper The Times wrote that European countries want President Donald Trump to send American fighter jets in Romania, as part of the security guarantees offered by the United States to end the Ukraine.

Thus, according to the information obtained by The Times, high-ranking military managers in Europe discussed the F-35 aircraft in Romania, where NATO builds its largest air basis in Europe, to discourage Russia to invade again.

According to Rutte, the discussions about the development of foreign troops in Ukraine as part of the security guarantees are in progress, but “it is too early to say what the result will be.”

“It is still too early to say who could provide troops, who will contribute with information, who will be present at sea and who in the air,” added President Zelenski.
