The border with Belarus is closed. Carriers incur such losses every day

According to ZMPD, the number of vehicles immobilized in Belarus is higher than before estimated by the Border Guard. On September 18, the services informed about 1.3 thousand. vehicles covering both trucks and buses. Meanwhile Entrepreneurs indicate that the situation is even more dramatic. I am talking about 1.5 thousand vehicles.
ZMPD reports that this generates huge costs for companies. Each day of downtime truck is an average of 450 euros.
As Anna Brzezińska, a spokeswoman for ZMPD cited by IAR and TVP Info, notes, companies may be imposed for a longer vehicle stop on the Belarusian side. – Added to this is the fact that the cars will be on the Belarusian side for more than 10 days, for example 66 euros per night. It is not known what other claims against Polish carriers will be in connection with this situation – he adds.

Problems on the border do not end with current losses. Many entrepreneurs abstain with decisions regarding new contracts, which further deepens the crisis.
“Carriers not only do not take further courses in that area, which companies from other countries use, they do not yet know when they will be able to take loads at all. So they do not even bind short -term commitments – explains Anna Brzezińska.
The transport industry expects government support
Carriers count on help from the Polish government, especially in the field of bringing trucks from Belarus and information on the possible opening of border crossings. At this moment, the borders remain closed until further notice.
