Mieczysław Kieta: Historia Aktion T4. Backstage of the Nazi program

Started in 1939, at Hitler's personal order, the program consumed the lives of about 200,000. people – both Germans and Poles and citizens of other occupied countries – murdered in gas chambers, by starvation, injections or starvation.

In a tiny booklet, Kieta not only shows why the Third Reich invented this diabolical plan (it was about racial cleanliness, but also about savings for the state budget), but also shows people who, followed by this serial murder of steel: doctors, SS, and officials of the Third Reich who treated T4 like any other saving program.

Kieta also shows how T4 has become a kind of “laboratory” for the later Holocaust. It was as part of this program that the Nazis tested mass killing technology, ways of hiding crimes and propaganda strategies that were to tame German society with the idea of mass extermination.

“Kryptonim T-4” is not a dry historical lecture, but rather a report based mainly on documents and testimonies of the post-war processes of the creators of T4. This is a book that restores the memory of the victims of probably a somewhat forgotten crime and which makes it realize that dehumanization mechanisms can also act in very boring frames of state bureaucracy.

The book was first published in 1962 as part of the Yellow Tiger Library, a series published by the PRL Ministry of Defense in 1957-1990. It has appeared in over 660 books in a tiny, pocket format. They all talked about various episodes of World War II and an attack on the radio station in Gliwice to the Pacific War.

Many of these books were pure communist propaganda, but some are just just good stories. For 20 years, the series has been quite regularly resumed, “code name T-4”, which is read really efficiently, has been resumed this year.
