CSM CSU Raiffeisen Oradea is preparing for the debut in the qualifications Basketball Champions League (BCL), the third continental competition. The first opponent of the Romanian vice -champion is Antwerp Giants, a band from Belgium.

As in recent years, CSM CSU Oradea is trying to ensure its presence in the Basketball Champions League groups, a competition that has grown year by year and became more powerful, especially after, this summer, Alba Berlin, Gran Canaria and Joventut Badalona have chosen to leave Euroliga and Eurocup to play in BCL.

With 5 new players in the lot, CSM Oradea fights in Bulgaria for qualifying in BCL groups

The qualifying tournament to which Cristian Achim's band will participate will take place in September 19-23, in Samokov, Bulgaria. CSM Oradea must pass 3 opponents to qualify in BCL groups.

On Friday, September 19, starting at 2:15 pm, the Romanian vice -champion will take place with Antwerp Giants in the first round of qualifications. In the event of a success, the red-blue will play further with Reggio Emilia (Italy) or Pelister (North Macedonia).

In the final of the tournament, CSM Oradea could meet PAOK Saloniki (Greece), SC Derby (Montenegro), Bursaspor (Turkey) or Lowen Braunschweig (Germany).

If they qualify in the BCl, the red lions would arrive in Group C, along with Joventut Badalona (Spain), Hapoel Holon (Israel) and Cholet Basket (France).

According to the official website of Bihor, Achim expects to have the entire lot available, after Jaizec Lottie, the team defender, has been absent from several verification parties due to a leg injury.

The American arrived in Hamburg has not yet trained with his teammates, but his physical condition is better and better. Lottie is one of the 5 transfers made by CSM Oradea. Thomas Bropleh, Bandja Sy, Emmanuel Nzekwesi and Ionuț Berceanu also arrived on the bank of Crișului..

Also, they remained in the lot Kris Richard, Sayeed Pridgett, Kalif Young, Luca Năstăț, Bogdan Nicolescu, Marian Schmidt and Roland Torok.

Lack of defender Jaizec Lottie, CSM Oradea had modest results in the Presezon

As a preparation for the qualifying tournament in Basketball Champions League, CSM Oradea has played several verification matches. Here are the results recorded by the red lions:

  • 75-68 vs. Deac Debrecen (Hungary)

  • 92-66 vs. CSM Târgu Mureș

  • 65-75 vs. Szolnoki Olajbanyasz (Hungary)

  • 74-87 vs. Kk Borac Cacak (Serbia)

  • 73-53 vs. CS Vâlcea 1924

In an interview for bihon.ro, Serban Sere, CSM President Oradea, spoke about the new partnership of the basketball team with Raiffeisen Bank, acknowledged that the results in the Presezon did not thank him and prefaced the Bulgarian tour.

“I cannot promise that we will qualify, but I can say with certainty that we will fight for qualification. But we must see what our opponents are and where they come from. Let us not forget that in the third round we can meet a team from Germany or Turkey, these being the finalists of the recent European basketball championship. We will fight for access to groups, this is safe, but the results will depend on the form of the moment and other different aspects and circumstances of the matches”Said greenhouses, according to the above mentioned source.

“We go to Bulgaria to try to get the qualification, even if it is very complicated. We have this sadness as a country, as we do not give a team that will play directly in the Champions League groups. 100% I would have wanted to start the internal championship before the Champions League. It is a fool to play eliminatory matches, being the first official match“, Added Cristian Achim, coach of CSM Oradea, according to probaschet.ro.

The match between CSM Oradea and Antwerp Giants will be able to be watched live on the YouTube channel of Basketball Champions League.
