“I went to all the consultations with the local authorities in these almost three months since I was a prime minister, at least 10 times, and I know the problems quite well, having the 20 years in the administration. It was never a refusal of meetings. Yesterday, two activities were overlapped, there was a meeting with the parliament and I could not come to the parliament. maybe good ”Bolojan told Euronews.
The prime minister was also asked about how the job discounts will be made in the local administration. He explained that they will not be applied evenly because some administrations “They managed better”while others “They exaggerated.”
“For example, the Bihor County Council has 88 employees, under 90, in a fairly large county, and other county councils with double or triple employees do not think they are doing much better. I hope we reach a solution, because the difference between income and expenses cannot be reduced without decreased expenses.” said Bolojan.
The prime minister acknowledged that a major mistake in the past was the demotivation of local administrations to manage the money effectively, through transfers of funds from the state without conditioning the performance.
The government came up with two proposals on reducing staff spending in local administration: either a 10% reduction for each UAT or the reduction by 40% of the total posts, with a “brake” of 20% of those already occupied, according to the president of the Romanian Association, Lia Olguța Vasilescu. She stressed that no town hall resembles another in terms of personnel schemes.
